I live in Los Angeles, and have been here since attending UCLA’s MFA Screenwriting program. I write and develop for TV and Film, while also turning my attention to novels. I grew up in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland - a pastor’s kid who always loved stories and was affected by movies and books like pretty much nothing else (except for the woods and creeks and ponds and animals and the constant need to know what lived beyond the horizon.)
Week three has gone a lot better for me than one or two. I caught up on all the writing I was behind on and it feels great! I am right on track and I am loving how Zooey Zombie's second story is developing. In the first book it was so short it was just an surface introduction to Zooey and her friends and the situation they're in with her being brought back to life after being a zombie by the "cure".
I started strong in the first two days, writing more than I needed to for my daily count to get to 50k by the end of November, but then I fell short. I was sick Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with sinus issues from hell. I'm still dealing with it but at least I don't feel winded when I walk from not being able to breathe out my nose anymore. For my project I am working on "So Over the Undead", the second novel/novella in my Zooey Zombie series.
Now more than ever authors are wearing two hats; writing and marketing. It's not enough anymore to write the great American novel and send it off to the publisher for them to put the word out about it, we have to do it ourselves. At first this can seem daunting.
