Wow! I was one of those who caught up with the show and then decided I had to read the book. I'm so glad I did. My friend has been trying to talk me into it for the past year or so and I was always like "meh, sounds ok. I don't know". I wish I had read it sooner! I got lucky and found a steal on Facebook Marketplace. A lady was selling the first four books in the series in hardcover for only $20 so I jumped on it! The show seems like it was pretty true to the books, though of course the books go deeper and have great bits that they could not fit into the show.
