It’s November 1st! Welcome to day one of NaNoWriMo 2021!

If you’re a writer or author then you probably know about NaNoWriMo, and if you don’t you need to check it out. It’s such a huge writing motivator! I’ve participated for years now and it definitely gets competitive when you see all these other writers achieving their goals. You can too!

When you join NaNoWriMo it sets a goal of 50k words to be written in the month of November. I’m working on So Over the Undead, the second book in my quick and campy novella Zooey Zombie series. Now, technically, a novella is 40k words or less. The first book in the series was only 29k. But now that NaNoWriMo has set this 50k goal I can’t change I HAVE to achieve it. I want that badge and banner! I just finished outlining my book so I’m all ready to start today. Who’s with me?

A great part of NaNoWriMo is to bring writers together with their community threads and groups. Writers can have each other’s backs, bounce around ideas, help each other figure out weird and unique character names, and just listen while you complain about your writer’s block. It’s great to be reminded we’re not alone in this, because sometimes being an author is a lonely job (aside from all the voices in our heads, right? That’s normal).
